Modern Basement Laundry

Rinse - Wash - Repeat

Busy families mean lots of fun AND lots of laundry! It is a never-ending cycle of rinsing, scrubbing, washing, sorting, folding…the list is long and tedious.

The busy family who calls this space home was tired of spending hours in their cramped and dark basement laundry room. While we couldn’t change where in the house the laundry was, I knew we could change how they felt while spending time here…and also give them much-needed function.

Two active, sports-loving boys, a cat with “special” demands, two working, active parents, and splitting their time between this home and their vacation property, means this family is always on the go. And this laundry room functions as the central cleaning, storing, organizing hub for it all.

Phew! This is one hardworking room.

The final result? An ultra-functional and stylish room that you wouldn’t know is in the basement if you didn’t walk down the steps yourself.

Lots of open and closed storage for regular household items, as well as sweaty sports gear, space to store everything destined for vacation land, a large “industrial” sink deep enough for the biggest bucket, surface area for folding, and ultra-convenient stacking laundry machines—all in a bright and modern space that is easy to maintain.

I think we did it.

My favorite part? The “Open 24 hours” print. Because even though it’s a sad fact of life, at least you can have a laugh as you load the washing machine one more time.
